Worship is more just singing songs at church or in your car. It’s more than lifted hands. It’s a life style that honors God in all things. As the Apostle Paul says in Romans 12, we are to be a “living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God”.
And when I think about worship in that sense, of living out faith in the everyday moments, I’m reminded of this verse about King David in 1st Chronicles 21:26. David built an altar to the Lord. Then he called on the Lord and fire from heaven consumed the offering.
You know, our everyday-ordinary life is no different. If we truly to live life as worship, dedicated to Jesus, then we must have our hearts in the right place. And that starts with setting out to please God in everything we do-- our work, relationships, parenting-- everything. That includes what we do to serve in ministry! Jesus deserves our best effort. Always!
When we live life as worship-- when we prepare our lives as an altar of worship-- we honor and worship God. That intentional sacrifice to honor God is the type of worship God is looking for. He honors everyday imperfect people looking to follow Him.
Let your life honor God in every way. Serve, work, love, bless others as if you are serving God himself. That’s what building an altar of worship looks like.
